Passionate Psychology Lecturer, Consultant, Psychologist and a Psychological Counsellor with over four years of academic and professional experience in the field of academia. Committed to integrate research and teaching to help students explore human behavior and apply psychological knowledge to real-world challenges.

With a strong academic foundation in Psychology and Counselling, I am committed to advancing psychological education through engaging teaching, student mentorship, and research-informed practice. My professional journey has allowed me to develop a deep understanding of human behavior, mental health, and the psychological factors that influence well-being. Through my teaching, I strive to create an inclusive and intellectually stimulating learning environment where students are encouraged to critically explore psychological theories and apply them to real-world contexts.

As a Lecturer in Psychology attached to AUS, I am dedicated to supporting students’ academic and professional development by integrating psychological knowledge with diverse range of innovation that gives major focus on research. My academic interests focus on clinical psychology, child psychology and special need education, with particular attention to how to uplift someone's life those who are really in need. Ultimately this effort enhances my insight about equipping students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills that prepare them to contribute meaningfully to the fields of psychology, counselling, and mental health.

I also strongly believe in contributing to a dynamic academic community that values innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning. By combining teaching, research, and student engagement, I aim to promote academic excellence while supporting the development of compassionate, ethical, and socially responsible future professionals in psychology and counselling.

Professional Statement

My professional philosophy is grounded in the belief that psychology and counselling play a vital role in promoting individual well-being, resilience, and personal growth. As a Lecturer in Psychology, I strive to create an engaging and supportive learning environment where students are encouraged to think critically, explore diverse perspectives, and apply psychological knowledge to real-world challenges. I am committed to integrating theory, research, and practical counselling insights to help students develop both academic competence and professional awareness.

In my work as both an educator and psychological counsellor, I emphasize empathy, ethical practice, and evidence-based approaches to understanding human behavior and mental health. I believe that education should not only equip students with knowledge but also inspire them to become compassionate and responsible professionals who contribute positively to society. Through teaching, mentorship, and scholarly engagement, I aim to foster a learning community that values curiosity, collaboration, and continuous personal and professional development.

As the University Lecturer in Psychology, I am entrusted with a multifaceted role dedicated to the advancement of psychological science and the cultivation of academic excellence.

The Major Responsibilities and Duties held:

  • Design, develop and implement training in Psychology and Counselling Programmes.

  • Conduct lectures in Psychology and Counselling related modules of the Certificate Level,

  • Advanced Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Higher National Diploma programmes and Degree programmes of the Institute.

  • Served as the Course Director for the Certificate in Psychology and Counselling Programs, and particularly for the Advanced Diploma in Psychology and Counselling and Higher National Diploma in Psychology and Counselling programs, which constitute the first two years of the BSc (Hons) in Psychology and Counselling Program affiliated with Coventry University, UK.

  • Developed new certificate programs, including the Certificate in Child Psychology and Advanced Certificate in Early Childhood Education

  • Organised and Conducted seminars on "CHILD ABUSE & CHILD PROTECTION" , "GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP AND INTERNATIONAL CAREERS", "THE IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGY ON SOCIETY A PSYCHOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE" at University of Peradeniya. 

  • Setting exam papers and administering examinations and evaluations.

  • Served as a Psychological Counsellor at the Kandy Innovation Centre - NIBM, attending to students' psychological needs and supporting them through both academic and personal challenges.

  • Attending departmental and faculty meetings, conferences, seminars and workshops.
