Professional Statement
My academic career has been shaped by a long-standing interest in how data, information, knowledge, and economic information systems influence decision-making and institutional development. Trained as an economist-mathematician, I have spent more than thirty years teaching and conducting research in universities across Russia, Vietnam, France, China and India. Working in diverse academic environments has broadened my perspective on economic theory, information systems and higher education.
My research focuses on the informational dimension of economic processes, particularly how information and knowledge function as economic resources. Alongside academic work, I have gained practical experience in banking, information technology, and applied economic analysis, which has strengthened my interest in connecting economic theory with real-world problems.
Teaching has been the central element of my professional life. I have taught courses in microeconomics, macroeconomics, business analytics, and information systems, and have supervised more than one hundred undergraduate and graduate students. I am also strongly interested in educational innovation and digital learning. A significant part of my work has involved designing online courses and implementing blended-learning environments using Learning Management Systems (LMS), which I see as an important way to expand access to high-quality education and improve learning outcomes.
International collaboration has also been an important part of my academic life. Through visiting appointments, joint programs, and research partnerships, I have worked with colleagues across Europe and Asia. These experiences have reinforced my belief that universities serve as bridges connecting ideas, cultures, and people.
Outside my formal academic work, I enjoy engaging with broader discussions about economic development, digital transformation, and the future of higher education. I remain curious about new ideas, emerging technologies, and the ways in which economic thinking can contribute to solving complex societal challenges. Ultimately, what motivates me most in my professional life is the opportunity to help build intellectual connections – between ideas, between people, and between different parts of the world.
In this role, I design and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in economics, business analytics, and global strategy. I have developed and implemented e-learning courses tailored to diverse international cohorts, applying innovative teaching methodologies such as Team-Based and Project-Based Learning. My responsibilities include supervising students, providing academic advising, and contributing to curriculum enhancement. I am actively involved in research on digital platforms, decision-support systems, and applied analytics. Beyond classroom teaching, I support institutional development by integrating digital tools into pedagogy and by contributing to the university’s international outreach and collaborations.
