Associate Professor Evgeny Ivanov represented The American University of Science (AUS) at the QS Higher Ed Summit: APAC 2023, held from November 7 to 9 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in Malaysia. His presentation, titled “Higher Education Trends in Southeast Asia and Challenges in Contemporary Education,” examined regional developments shaping universities and students across Southeast Asia.
The presentation formed part of AUS’s wider participation in the summit, which gathered university leaders, faculty members, institutional partners, and higher education professionals from across the Asia-Pacific region. The event provided a platform for dialogue on academic development, institutional change, student needs, and the future role of universities.
Associate Professor Ivanov’s presentation focused on the evolving higher education landscape in Southeast Asia. His remarks addressed the pressures facing institutions as they respond to growing demand for higher education, shifting workforce expectations, internationalization, digital learning, and questions of educational quality.

The topic aligned with broader summit discussions on universities and the future of work in Asia Pacific. As higher education institutions adapt to changing social, economic, and technological conditions, regional analysis has become increasingly important for understanding how universities can serve students, employers, and communities more effectively.
Associate Professor Ivanov’s contribution reflected AUS’s commitment to academic engagement with practical educational challenges. His presentation connected regional trends with institutional questions that affect curriculum, student experience, access, quality assurance, and long-term university development.

The presentation also reinforced the value of comparative higher education analysis. By examining challenges across Southeast Asia, universities can better understand shared pressures, identify opportunities for collaboration, and develop strategies that respond to the changing needs of students and societies.
Through Associate Professor Ivanov’s participation at the QS Higher Ed Summit: APAC 2023, AUS contributed to regional dialogue on higher education trends, contemporary educational challenges, and the future direction of universities in Asia Pacific. His presentation supported AUS’s broader engagement with academic collaboration, international dialogue, and practice-oriented education.
